Post-Publication Discussions and Corrections
Transparan! welcomes constructive scholarly discussion of its published articles. Readers, authors, and reviewers may submit comments, alternative interpretations, requests for clarification, or concerns about the accuracy and integrity of published research.
Submitting Comments and Concerns
Comments and concerns should be submitted to the editorial office through the contact details provided on the journal’s Contact page. Submissions should identify the article by its title or DOI, clearly explain the issue, and include relevant evidence or references where available.
Discussion must focus on scholarly content and remain respectful. Personal attacks, discriminatory language, and unsupported accusations will not be accepted. Credible concerns will be assessed regardless of whether the person reporting them chooses to disclose their identity.
Editorial Assessment and Author Responses
The editorial team will assess submissions for relevance, clarity, and supporting evidence. Authors will normally be invited to respond to substantive comments or concerns. Independent expert advice may be sought when necessary.
Where appropriate, the journal may publish a scholarly comment or letter together with the authors’ response, linking both to the original article. Disagreement with an article’s interpretation or conclusions does not, by itself, establish an error or misconduct.
Corrections
Authors should promptly notify the editorial office when they discover an error in their published work. A correction will be considered when an error affects the article’s accuracy but does not invalidate its overall findings.
Corrections will explain the changes and be linked to the original article. Substantive changes will not be made silently.
Expressions of Concern and Retractions
An expression of concern may be issued when serious questions remain unresolved or an investigation is ongoing. Retraction may be necessary when findings are substantially unreliable or serious ethical breaches undermine the publication.
Notices will explain the reasons for the editorial action and be linked to the affected article. Retracted articles will normally remain accessible and clearly marked as retracted to preserve the scholarly record.
Fair Handling
Concerns will be assessed fairly, with an opportunity for the parties involved to respond. Editors with relevant conflicts of interest will not handle the case. Editorial decisions will be based on the evidence and the need to maintain an accurate and trustworthy scholarly record.
